Death of Houston Alexander
Houston Alexander, perhaps the oldest man in Brown county and one of the best known citizens, passed away at an early hour this, Friday, morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Huffman, in Cooperstown township.
Deceased was 94 years of age last January 16. He had been in feeble health for sometime, and his death was due to the infirmities resulting from advanced age.
Houston Alexander was among the pioneer citizens of Brown county, coming here when but a child, and this county had therefore been his home nearly all his long life. His wife died 17 years ago, and a son, John died only a short time ago. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Martha Hickman and Mrs. Lizzie Huffman, both residing in this country, eleven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren, and a host of friends, who will be grieved to learn of his passing.
The funeral occurrs [sic] from the Christian church this, Saturday, afternoon at 3 o’clock, conducted by Rev. O. P. Wright, and interment will be made in the City cemetery.
