Burnside, William H. — William H. Burnside was born in Schuyler County, Illinois, July 3, 1847, and died at his home near Mt. Sterling, Illinois, Feb. 14, 1907, aged 59 years, 7 months, and 27 days. He spent most of his life in Schuyler county where he was extensively engaged in farming. Mr. Burnside bought a farm in Brown county to which he moved about six years ago, and where he lived up to the time of his death. He was a prosperous, successful farmer. His industrious habits, his energy and his successful methods of farming were a help and an inspiration to his neighbors, all of whom spoke well of him. He was kind, accommodating and generous. He made no profession of religion, but always speak well of the church and especially of the M.E. Church and requested that a minister of that church should have charge of the funeral services. His afflictions began about a year ago. He went away last October for a surgical operation, but the operation was not very successful, and he gradually failed until the end came Feb. 14, about 4 o’clock a.m. He leaves three brothers, three sisters and many other relatives and friends to mourn his death. Rev. J. Glick of Mt. Sterling officiated at his funeral.
