Patrick Mullen was born in Brown County, Illinois, April 14, 1865, and departed from this life on December 25, 1938, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Peter Thornton, where he has resided the past several years. Mr. Mullen was 73 years, 8 months, 11 days old having been born on the day of the martyrdom of President Lincoln. He spent practically all of his life in Brown Co. He was never married. Surviving him are four sisters, namely; Mrs. Sarah Hatton, Erie, Illinois; Mrs. Ben Factor, Alton, Illinois, Mrs. Peter Thornton. Two brothers Arney Mullen, Chillicothe, Illinois and Owen J. Mullen, Peoria, Illinois; besides numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral occurred Wednesday, December 28 from St. Mary’s Church with Rev. Father Marley officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.1
